Meshtastic 915MHz Solar Node in Blue Ridge: Tested 18-Mile LOS Link

Deployed a RAK4631 solar enclosure with a 10W monocrystalline panel and dual 18650 Li-ion cells on a high-elevation oak ridge (2,100 ft ASL). Successfully established an encrypted peer-to-peer packet link to an urban basin node 18.2 miles out with zero packet drop. Chirp configuration available upon request.

Field Communications Log (2 entries):
Echo-4: What antenna gain are you using? 3dBi or 5.8dBi fiberglass?(1 hour ago)

Mylar Oxygen Absorber Test: 2000cc Vacuum Wall Collapse Inspection

Inspected 12 buckets of hard red winter wheat packed in 7-mil mylar bags 6 months ago. 11 buckets show full brick-like vacuum pull down. Note on bucket #12: Hair straightener heat seal had a crease in the corner causing slow oxygen leak. Always double-seal your bags at 400°F with a 1-inch overlap!

Field Communications Log (1 entries):
Anvil-6: Great tip. I always wipe the sealing lip with isopropyl alcohol first to remove any wheat dust before clamping.(3 hours ago)

Winter Solar Watt-Hour Production Reality Check (42°N Latitude)

Reminder for northern operators: 400W of ground-mounted solar produced only 520Wh total yesterday under overcast December skies. If sizing your battery bank for 12V fridge + CPAP (approx 1,400Wh/day), you must have at least 1,200W of panels or a dual-fuel inverter generator backup.
